One More Recollection · 01

Ten days after the decisive battle with Goddess Elazonia, the reconstruction of the Demon King Castle in Dog Valley was moving forward.

"Ceres, I've come to take more stone."

"Thank you, Rino-sama. Please transport the finished bits over here."

"Okay! [Telekinesis]"

The Demon King quarried from the mountain and Ceres used [Wind Cutter] to neatly arrange the incoming rock. That was transported by Rino with magic. Then, Minotaurs and other strong demons would stack up the stone according to the instructions of the dwarfs holding blueprints. Their construction speed was so fast it was frightening. They had even surpassed heavy machinery like trucks and excavators from twenty-first century Earth.

"As expected, it seems magic power is too convenient."

For this reason, Shinichi once again concluded that science would not develop. Ross the orc and Arian who was looking at the cultivated fields walked up to him.

"It's only a brief check but it seems like all the potatoes have been destroyed after all."

"It's the same situation even inside the soil, oink."

Ross sorrowfully grimaced and presented a completely black, burned potato. It seems like Elazonia's magic had not only destroyed the fields, but had also politely burned all the way into the underground.

"Tsk, this isn't even fit for animal feed."

"Actually, it seems to be quite tasty, oink."

Shinichi looked where Ross was pointing and saw that his pet, which had transformed into a gigantic demon, was eating dug up potatoes from the scorched fields.

"If that guy is fine with it then it doesn't matter... either way, we can't eat it and we can't turn it into seed potatoes. We'll have to bury it together with the cinder leaves and use it as fertilizer."

"I see..."

Of the potatoes that were raised with manual labor, not one was able to be harvested so Arian once again felt dejected. Shinichi pat her shoulder and raised his voice.

"Keep at it! There's still soft, cultivated soil so let's hope for next year, yeah?"

"Hum, yeah!"

Arian energetically nodded and Shinichi nodded with a smile in return. Then, Shinichi suddenly warped his mouth into a broad grin.

"However, this Elazonia is a little naive. If it were up to me, I'd scatter a large quantity of salt or rather, turn it into a poisonous marsh so that no crops would ever ripen here again."

"As expected, Shinichi is more frightening than the goddess, oink."

Ross involuntarily broke into a cold sweat upon seeing Shinichi's curled smile.

"Anyway, the fields will have to be put on hold until the next spring. First of all, we should aim to pass through winter and hasten the restoration of the castle."

"Hum, understood."

Ross and Arian, with a nod, headed towards helping the construction effort. And so, at that time, Shinichi too decided to begin doing his own work.

"Hey! You prick!"

Suddenly, a familar angry voice could be heard from the sky. Shinichi raised his head and to his surprise, he could the see the shadow of three people flying towards him from the east at a terrific speed.

"What are you doing over here?"

"What do you mean, 'What'!?"

Shinichi tilted his head at the figures of the three people that were in front of him. That is, the white elf Clarissa, the masochistic fiction writer, and her friends. They slowly descended towards him.

"No matter how much time passes, you never bring the good looking guys that you've promised so I've come for them myself!"

"It hasn't even been two weeks yet. How impatient are you?"

Clarissa's face turned red and Shinichi sighed in exasperation. It would take eight days to travel from the Elf Village in the Eastern Continent to the Demon King Castle assuming they used [Fly] the entire time. In other words, Clarissa and her friends had not even waited three days before rushing out.

"I'll properly keep my promise so please wait quietly in the village."

Upon hearing Shinichi's words to drive them away, Clarissa once again shouted angrily.

"No! Because of what I did for you guys, I can't stay in the village anymore!"

"Is that really what they think?"

Shinichi saw Clarissa's teary eyes and the troubled faces of her two friends and then he finally understood the situation. The Elf's Tomb, the underground shelter left behind by the ancient civilisation with its countless sealed spirits, was destroyed. Because Shinichi threatened to expose the self-insert story she wrote, Clarissa took the blame. For that reason, it seems they had faced abuse from the villagers.

"For a masochist like you, isn't that a reward?"

"Could you please stop suspecting s-s-strange things?"

Despite Clarissa's immediate denial, anyone could see she was lying by the way her eyes were moving about. The bitter smiles of her two friends confirmed this.

"There are a lot of people protective of me, saying that it's good that I've defeated the evil spirits and that our long wish was achieved but..."

"The men strangely got angry so we can't really stick out."

"Ah, the men indeed?"

Shinichi had vaguely guessed the root problem and so he smiled inappropriately.

"For now, if it's difficult residing in the village then it's no problem if you live here you know?"

"Really!?"

"It's true that I'm late in introducing you guys to some good looking men. Not that I'm apologizing for that."

"Hm, at least we'll be welcome I guess."

Clarissa proudly stuck out her thin chest and Shinichi silently sent a lukewarm gaze her way.

(Despite her character, her ability seems to be genuine. If I carefully sweet talk her, I can get her to help with the construction effort.)

While he was thinking that, he suddenly remembered one piece of important information.

"Afterwards I have something to tell you guys."

"What is it?"

"You're not going to understand with only my words so..."

Shinichi surveyed his surroundings and upon doing so, his eyes met with a perverted saint who was looking in exactly his direction.

"Sanctina, come here for a moment."

"Certainly!"

Upon Shinichi's call, Sanctina obediently walked up to him. She lewdly gazed at the three white elves who had dubious expressions.

"I wish to inquire as to what you are all discussing but I couldn't help but notice all the female elves are truly beautiful girls. This is wonderful. (slurp)"

"Wh-who is this person!?"

"Please relax. She is just a normal pervert who likes little girls."

"I can't relax at all!"

Upon hearing Shinichi's introduction, Clarissa and her friends became ghastly pale and jumped back. Of the three elves, Maren, the smallest and with blue hair, trembled behind the tall Rosier who appeared like an older sister.

"As expected, humans are full of perverts!"

"Clarissa-chan, is it really okay to rely on these perverted humans?"

"Well, there isn't anyone else to rely on..."

Clarissa replied to her anxious friends with little confidence. Shinichi, without caring about the girls' situation informed Sanctina about the things to be done.

"Please show the usual memory to these guys. They won't believe us without any evidence."

"I see. I shall carry out the task."

Sanctina nodded her head, took the hands of Clarissa and her friends, and began chanting magic.

"[Link], next, [Search]"

The senses of me and the elves' were connected and then, from my brain, specific memories were dug out. That is, the scenes from thousands of years ago that were shown by the Red Dragon. We entered a time before civilization was ruined due to the huge asteroid's collision, when the golden age of magic and science took place. The fact that mages and regular people were able to be physically distinguished using magical remodelling and due to that, the [Elf] was formed, was projected intercranially to Clarissa and her friends.

"No way, that's a lie right!? We elves were originally humans...?"

"If you doubt us, should we introduce you to our information source, the Red Dragon?"

Shinichi retaliated with a malicious smile to the three elves trembling in fright and then suddenly, a doubt came to mind.

(Come to think of it, why don't these guys know that they are humans themselves?)

Clarissa's ancestors who were artificially hibernating in the Elf's Tomb should have had known that they were humans. Despite that, why didn't they tell their descendants?

(Were [Long Ear] mages and [Short Ear] people already different races even with the elitism making things worse?)

Despite having figured out that that was likely the case, Shinichi still addressed Clarissa and her friends.

"Anyway, while the outward appearance of you elves have already been tampered a little, you are all still humans. You can have children with humans without any problems."

"In other words, you're also aiming for my body, right!?"

"How did you arrive at that!?"

"You threaten me with my secret writing and you want to force me to have children even when I don't want to. It sounds like an erotic novel!"

"I don't have those kinds of preferences!"

From a distance, he could feel the grim gazes of a half-dragon and a dark elf so Shinichi raised his voice and denied it.

"All I'm saying is that the problem of having insufficient men and your village's inbreeding can be fixed if you guys can accept humans."

"O-o-of course! I don't need to be told that!"

While Clarissa told another obvious lie, Rosier and Maren nodded to each other with serious expressions.

"The fact that we've been humans all along is a little hard to grasp but..."

"At this rate, it's better than going extinct right?"

"More than anything, I'd rather find a kind human man than flatter some pretentious idiot!"

"Compared to an old lecher, young humans are far better!"

"You guys sure have it rough."

Shinichi sympathised more with the women who desired happiness than the pride of the upper class elves.

"Well, I'll properly introduce you guys to some good looking demons but being matchmaker for all of the women in the village is impossible. For me to do that, you all need to accept the truth and reconcile with humans."

"That's right. First of all, I'll inform everyone of the truth."

Clarissa regained her sanity and agreed with Shinichi's words.

"Prick, I'm going to explain this to everyone in the village so you're coming with us!"

"Okay, I get it. I was planning on going one more time anyway."

"Although, we used [Fly] a lot today so we're tired. Lend us a bed!"

"Alright, alright, as you wish."

Arguing back would only tire him out so Shinichi meekly nodded.

"Sanctina, sorry to bother you but please prepare a room and meal for these guys."

"Understood. Then, everyone, please come over here."

"Eh, you won't do anything strange right?"

Sanctina took Clarissa and her friends to the simple huts constructed next to the Devil King Castle. Upon seeing them off, Shinichi sought to report this event after returning to the castle himself.
